HS Track Roundup: Miners, Eagles, Tide, Haven score Schuylkill sweeps

MINERSVILLE — Bradley Kostishak took charge by winning three events as Minersville swept a boys’ track and field tri-meet with North Schuylkill and Lincoln Leadership on Tuesday at Minersville Area High School.
Kostishak won the 110-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump as the Miners stayed unbeaten in Schuylkill League Division I play with an 86.5-54.5 win over the Spartans. In non-league action, Minersville routed Lincoln Leadership 131-9 and North Schuylkill downed Lincoln Leadership 115-11.

A variety of other Miners (6-0, 4-0 D-I) chipped in by winning one event. John Burgess (1600), Braden Hall (3200) and Jordan Bowers (300 hurdles) added wins on the track, while Aiden Boom (javelin) and Dante Carr (high jump) won field events.
For North Schuylkill (3-2, 1-2), Luke Miller was the lead man, winning the 100 and 200. In a battle between two of the area’s top sprinters, Miller edged Minersville’s Paiten LaPoint 10.59-10.64 in the 100 and 21.60-22.01 in the 200.
Also for the Spartans, Julian Nelson took first in the 400, Brayden Lauta won the shot put and Aiden Zilker had the best throw in the discus. North Schuylkill’s 400 relay and 1600 relay teams were also victorious.

POTTSVILLE — Cullen Clarke, Donovann Durham and Ryan Galen each won two events as the Crimson Tide had no problem cruising past the Cardinals in a Schuylkill League Division I matchup at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Clarke took home the two long-distance events, winning the 1600- and 3200-meter runs. Durham won the 110 hurdles and the long jump. Galen placed first in the shot put and discus, while the Tide swept the relays.
Pottsville (2-3, 2-2 D-I) won 15 of 18 events. Nathan Frankenfield (100), Jake Warner (400) and Conan DeBruyn (high jump) won events for Pine Grove (0-5, 0-4).

MINERSVILLE — Maggie Hoffman-Long led the way by winning four events as Minersville defeated North Schuylkill and Lincoln Leadership in a tri-meet at Minersville Area High School.
Hoffman-Long won the 100, 200, long jump and triple jump as the Miners edged the Spartans 76-72 in a Schuylkill League Division I meet. Minersville downed Lincoln Leadership 130-4 and North Schuylkill beat Lincoln Leadership 124-1 in non-league action.
Anna Cook and Avery Miller both won two events for the Miners (4-2, 2-2 D-I). Cook won the 800 and 1600, while Miller took first in the shot put and javelin. Jewelisa Perez (100 hurdles) and Alyssa Cook (pole vault) also won events for Minersville.
Lauren Powis was a double winner for North Schuylkill (3-2, 1-2), winning the high jump and discus. Tatiana Salefski (400), Brynn Wartman (3200) and Olivia Greblick (300 hurdles) added wins for the Spartans.

Schaeffer won the 1600 and 3200 and ran on two winning relays for Schuylkill Haven (5-0, 5-0 D-II), while Feger swept the throwing events (shot put, discus, javelin). Isabella Hughes swept the hurdles and Bella Murphy took top honors in the long and triple jumps as Haven won 15 of 17 events.
