HS Softball: North Schuylkill knocks off Blue Mountain in Division I showdown

ORWIGSBURG — Brigid Flynn pitched a complete-game four-hitter to lead North Schuylkill to a 3-1 victory over Blue Mountain on Tuesday evening at Patton Field.

Flynn struck out seven, walked one and gave up just one unearned run.
The Spartans, who have won six in a row, had six hits and seven walks to produce their runs.
Monica Selgrade went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Lindsay Brouse, Jordanna Frie and Mallorie Croker had one RBI apiece.
For Blue Mountain, Karley Koch went 2-for-3, while Emmerson Frie singled and knocked in a run.

Pine Grove 9, Tamaqua 2
TAMAQUA — Madison Shiffer notched the 100th hit of her career in a big day to help Pine Grove defeat Tamaqua in a Division I game.
Shiffer went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.

The Cardinals clubbed 15 hits as Jamie Dinger went 3-for-4 with a double; Lily Flynn went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs; Tailyn Bohr went 2-for-3 with two runs scored; and Callee Leffler went 2-for-5 with a double, one run and one RBI.
Chelcy Clark pitched five innings of scoreless relief to earn the win in the circle. She allowed one hit, struck out six and walked two.
For Tamaqua, Addison Krall hit a two-run home run, and Ceanna Gormley went 2-for-3 with a double. Leah Crowley also doubled and scored a run.

POTTSVILLE — Cadence Borger went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI as Pottsville outslugged Lourdes in a Division I game at the CACL Complex.
The Crimson Tide jumped out to a 13-3 lead after the first inning.

Jes Siminitus tripled, scored twice and knocked in a run for Pottsville, while Megan Yost went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Marlee Templeton, Reese Ketner and Izzy Kunstek had one single and two RBIs apiece.
For Lourdes, Karissa Koronkiewicz went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, and Reaghan Fuller went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. Other top hitters for the Red Raiders included Brynn Barcavage, 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI; and Gabby Dusendschine, 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored.

POTTSVILLE — Rylynn Brennan went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI to lead Minersville past Nativity in a Division II game atop Lawton’s Hill.

Grace Sterner added a 2-for-4 day with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Sara McGrath went 2-for-2 with a triple, five RBIs and two runs scored for the Miners. Other top hitters for Minersville included Eila O’Brien, 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs; and Isabella Plesnarski, 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
For Nativity, Lauren Clark doubled and knocked in a run.

At the plate, Smeltz went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, five RBIs and a run scored for the Vikings.

Quin Smeltz doubled and drove in two runs for Williams Valley, while Kayla Hand scored four runs and Ella Kobularik scored three times.
