HEGINS — A 10-run inning powered Blue Mountain to another win, helping the Eagles remain unbeaten in Schuylkill League play.

Evan Setlock doubled and pushed across a run in Blue Mountain’s 10-run fifth inning as the Eagles rolled past Tri-Valley 14-2 in five innings in a Schuylkill League Division I baseball game Tuesday at Edwin H. Ziegler Field.

Setlock also pitched a five-inning complete game, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out five and earned his second victory of the season.

“Setlock can throw multiple pitches for strikes, really anytime in the count,” Blue Mountain skipper Jarrod Kramer said. “I know there was times where he was behind in the count and he spun some offspeed pitches in there, and that really kept Tri-Valley off balance. Being able to throw multiple pitches for strikes definitely helps, but he’s a strike-thrower. He wants the ball, he was motivated to pitch today. He likes to compete.”

Dean Faust went 3-for-4, doubled, scored a pair of runs and knocked in two runs in the heart of Blue Mountain’s lineup.

Cohen Kirby, Brady Strause, Connor Huben and Josh Hoover each tallied an RBI during the fifth-inning rally. Ryan Clemas added a pinch-hit two-run single for the Eagles (4-3, 3-0).

Blue Mountain was ready from the jump, going ahead 3-0 after the top of the first. Riley Sebastian, Frankie Russo and Faust each had an RBI. Setlock was proficient through his first two innings, setting the Dawgs down 1-2-3 in back-to-back innings.

“Offensively, with Dean and some of our other guys, we challenged them yesterday with some different things,” Kramer said. “With their approach at the plate, in certain counts, they listened. They took it to heart and their performance showed it today.”

For Tri-Valley (6-1, 2-1), Gavin Klock collected an RBI, Gavin Scheib doubled, and Braeden Doyle and Jason Stewart each scored a run.

Schuylkill Haven 8, Minersville 3

MINERSVILLE — Hunter Correll went 4-for-5, doubled, scored two runs and added a pair of RBIs as Schuylkill Haven defeated Minersville in nine innings in a Division II contest.

Correll doubled for Schuylkill Haven and drive in two runs as part of the Hurricanes’ five-run ninth-inning rally. Alan Evans took home the win on the hill with 2.1 innings of relief for Haven.
