HS Basketball Roundup: Pottsville boys continue to roll

POTTSVILLE — Pottsville continues its latest hot streak.
Christian Alvarez led all scorers with 21 points and led Pottsville to its sixth constitutive win as the Crimson Tide rolled past North Schuylkill 65-29 in a Schuylkill League Division I matchup Friday evening at Martz Hall.
Derek Watkins chipped in 15 points for Pottsville (13-5, 9-2, in D-I) who led 18-10 after an offensive splurge off the start. Watkins had six points in the first quarter.
For the Spartans, Jude Maziekas netted a team-high seven points.
After Friday’s round of games saw Minersville (14-3, 9-2) top previously unbeaten Mahanoy Area 50-39 in Division I action, the Tide sits second in D-I tied with Minersville. Pottsville defeated the Battlin’ Miners 54-44 this past Tuesday.

Tyeirre Meade chipped in 17 points for Blue Mountain, who led 30-20 at the half. Cohen Kirby added 10 points for the Eagles.
For the Panthers, Logan Fisher netted a team-high 16 points.
