HS Girls’ Basketball Roundup: Spartans, Fillies clinch league playoff berths; Nativity gets 1st win

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Mya Conti paced a trio of double-digit scorers with 17 points as North Schuylkill clinched a Schuylkill League Division I playoff berth with a 59-34 victory over Minersville on Tuesday at the Cesari-Hope Gymnasium.
Gianna Capone added 14 points and Hannah Kane tallied 13 for North Schuylkill, which used a 17-4, second-quarter run to break the game open. The Spartans hit nine 3-pointers.
Alayna Boom drained six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points for Minersville.

HOMETOWN — Addy Fritz buried seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points as the Fillies clinched a Schuylkill League Division II playoff spot with a victory over the Golden Bears at the Jack Malarkey Gymnasium.
Fritz hit five of her triples in the first half as Marian built a 39-17 halftime cushion. Deanna Pugh and Addy Marek each added 12 points and Olivia Serfass tallied 11 for the Fillies.
Felicia Bro scored a team-high 10 points for Mahanoy Area.

POTTSVILLE — Mckenna Runkle scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the middle quarters as the Hurricanes topped the Tide in a Division I game at Martz Hall.
Audrey Hutchinson and Anna Schaeffer each added 11 points for Schuylkill Haven, which outscored Pottsville 34-13 in the middle frames to take control. Runkle finished with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Hurricanes.
Jes Siminitus paced Pottsville with eight points.

Emma Joan Fox and Stewart had 3-pointers in a 10-5, third-quarter spurt that put Nativity ahead for good. The teams combined to score just one point in the fourth quarter and went a combined 7-for-28 from the foul line.
