With an action-packed week of games ahead of us, Mahanoy Area, Minersville and Pottsville still remain on top of the T102 Sports Now Super 7 Boys’ Basketball Poll.

The No. 1 and No. 2 teams square off Friday as the Golden Bears travel to Minersville for a Schuylkill League Division I game that could have massive implications on the Schuylkill League playoff picture. That isn’t all for the Battlin’ Miners, who will first host the No. 3 Crimson Tide on Tuesday.

In the Division II side of things, Nativity climbs and Weatherly makes its anticipated debut in the Super 7 Poll.  The Hilltoppers capped their week with a 57-50 win over rival Marian on Friday. Nativity will host the Wreckers on Tuesday, before the Hilltoppers travel to Hegins for a clash against Tri-Valley, which is another game that could have postseason implications.

Schuylkill County basketball fans may be in for an exciting week of boys’ hoops, or maybe an appetizer for Schuylkill League playoffs.

Teams to keep a close eye on as we near the end of the season include Williams Valley (7-7-1) and Blue Mountain (7-8), who both are battling for District 11 postseason contention in their respective classes.
