POTTSVILLE — A quick pep talk by the Stauffer sisters got Schuylkill Haven “locked in” during its Schuylkill League girls’ swimming dual meet against Pottsville on Tuesday at the Ned Hampford Natatorium.

The talk helped the Hurricanes overcome an 11-point deficit to defeat the Crimson Tide 89-82. Schuylkill Haven (6-3, 3-3 SL) won five of the final eight events, including a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100-yard freestyle.

Hope Stauffer led the Hurricanes by winning the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and anchoring the winning 200 freestyle relay team. Taylor Fitzpatrick (diving, 500 free) added a pair of wins, while Nikki Domermuth won the 200 IM.

Cali Stauffer picked up some key points in the 50 free and 100 breast and joined Hope Stauffer, Domermuth and Teagan Wehr on the winning 200 free relay team.

Adalia LaSelva (50 free, 100 fly) and Gianna LaSelva (200 free, 100 back) each won two events and swam on a winning relay for Pottsville (3-4, 3-3).

MAHANOY CITY — Sage Kaplafka (100 fly, 100 breast) won two individual events and swam on the winning 200 free relay team as the Eagles defeated the Golden Bears.

Julia Crossen (200 free), Alayna Hensel (100 free), Molly Stone (200 IM) and Lola Machamer (50 free) also won individual events for Blue Mountain (7-1, 6-0).

Lillian Brown (500 free, 100 back) was a double-winner and swam on a winning relay for Mahanoy Area (0-6, 0-6).

Genevieve Salefski (500 free), Anabelle Bennett (diving), Katelyn Nahodil (200 IM) and MacKenzie Lavas (100 back) won an individual event for the Spartans (4-4, 3-4).

Lydia Strucko (50 free, 100 fly) won two individual events and swam on the team’s winning 200 medley relay for Marian (1-4, 1-4). Zoe Katona (100 breast) won an individual event and was also on the winning medley relay.

Noah Bevan (50 free, 100 fly) won two individual events for Pottsville (6-1, 5-1), while Jamison Walsh (200 IM), Adam Klinger (diving), Killian Bressler (100 free), Caiden Wright (500 free), Logan Strauss (100 back) and Marty Davis (100 breast) all picked up individual event wins as well.
