Thursday’s local sports roundup:
Girls’ Soccer
Blue Mountain 3, Pine Grove 0 — At the Eagles’ Nest, Lexi Waschko scored twice as the Eagles blanked the Cardinals in a Division I contest.
Kyra Moran added a goal off an assist from Caitlyn McGhee for Blue Mountain, while Alanza Smith and Katie Katerman combined to stop all five Pine Grove shots.
Schuylkill Haven 2, Williams Valley 1 — At Rotary Field, Taylor Haag scored a goal and assisted on another as the Hurricanes topped the Vikings in a Division II clash.
Peyton Butz scored Schuylkill Haven’s other goal, while Kylie Siket assisted on Haag’s goal. Jasmine Hechler scored for Williams Valley.
North Schuylkill 8, Tamaqua 0 — Freshman sensation Lilah Helwig scored five straight goals, all in the first half as North Schuylkill blanked Tamaqua in a Division I contest at Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.
Addie Balicki, Marlie White and Addie Urban added second-half goals for North Schuylkill. Madelyn Moyer stopped two shots for the shutout, while Veronica Scott made 16 saves in net for Tamaqua.
Pottsville 8, Shenandoah Valley 0 — At Shenandoah, Kailey Olenick scored four goals and had an assist as the Tide (2-0-1, 2-0 D-I) downed the Blue Devils.
Cami Quirin-Morris, Abbie Davis, Trinity Mendofik and Hadley Snyder added goals for Pottsville, while Bella Wright and Mendofik tallied two assists apiece.
Pottsville outshot Shenandoah Valley 21-1.
Boys’ Soccer
Tri-Valley 0, Meadowbrook Christian 0 — The Bulldogs battled Meadowbrook Christian to a scoreless tie in a game that was halted at halftime due to weather.
Girls’ Volleyball
Panther Valley 3, Mahanoy Area 0 — Abby Benack compiled nine assists, including the 500th of her career, as the Panthers swept the Golden Bears 27-25, 25-20, 25-18.
Caroline Breslin had 10 digs and two aces for Panther Valley, while Emma Dacey collected seven kills, four assists and 11 digs.
Mahanoy Area won JV 2-1.
