HS Softball: North Schuylkill blasts Berwick

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Olivia Jones had a huge day in the circle and at the plate to lead North Schuylkill past Berwick 10-0 in six innings in a non-league game Monday at Dot Seidel Field.
Jones pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking two.
At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Jordanna Frie slugged her third home run of the season as part of a 2-for-2 day that included three RBIs and two runs scored.
Other top hitters for the Spartans included Brigid Flynn, 2-for-3 with two runs scored; and Lindsay Brouse, 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

SLATINGTON — Sage Smeltz went 2-for-3 with a triple, five RBIs and a run scored to power Williams Valley to a victory over Northern Lehigh in non-league action.

Olivia Hand went the distance in the circle for the Vikings, allowing seven hits while striking out six and walking one. At the plate, she went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
The Vikings trailed 4-3 after three innings but scored in each of the final four innings to go ahead and pull away.
Other top hitters for Williams Valley included Ella Kobularik, 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI; Kayla Hand, 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored; Audrina Fry, 2-for-4 with an RBI; and Ally Underkoffler, 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

MAHANOY CITY — Emily Upanavage went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs as Marian outslugged Mahanoy Area in a non-league game.

Upanavage also pitched 5.1 innings of relief to earn the win in the circle. She struck out seven and walked one.
Malina Letcher went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Fillies, who scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Hailey Treskolasky slugged her third home run of the season and knocked in two runs for Marian.

For Mahanoy Area, Naomi Kowalick went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, while Hailey Mroczka went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The teams were tied 2-2 with one out in the top of the fourth inning at the time of the stoppage.
