HS Track: Luckenbach breaks 2 records, Miners 3-peat as boys’ team champs at Pine Grove Invitational

PINE GROVE — Viktorya Luckenbach thrilled the home crowd with a pair of record-breaking performances and the Minersville boys won their third straight team title at Thursday’s Pine Grove Invitational at Cardinal Stadium.

Luckenbach blazed to victory in both the 100- and 200-meter dash, breaking the invitational and Cardinal Stadium records in both events. She won the 100 in 11.95 seconds and the 200 in 24.77 seconds.

Pottsville’s Alexa Giuffre swept the hurdle events, setting a new invitational and stadium record in the 300 hurdles with a winning time of 45.79. Giuffre was also second in the long jump, Ashley Gould captured the shot put and the Crimson Tide took first in the 1600 relay as Pottsville won the girls’ team title with 78 points.

Other local girls’ winners included Tamaqua’s Madelyn Schaeffer (800), Schuylkill Haven’s Anna Schaeffer (1600), Tamaqua’s Samantha Plasha (high jump), Minersville’s Avery Miller (javelin), Pine Grove’s 400 relay and Schuylkill Haven’s 3200 relay.

Northern Lebanon’s Makenna Haas set a pair of invitational and stadium records en route to winning both the long jump and triple jump.

On the boys’ side, the Miners dominated the 14-team field by collecting 115 points, 50 more than second-place Steel-High.

Paiten LaPoint set a new invitational record by winning the 100 meters in 10.94, while Dante Carr captured both the high jump and long jump. Kolin Long also had a big day, winning the 3200 while taking second in both the 800 and 1600.

Minersville won the 400 relay and was second in the 1600 relay. Jordan Bowers was second in the triple jump while Aiden Boom and Robert Bruce were 2-3 in the javelin. Grady McGovern (400), Bradley Kostishak (110 hurdles) and Aidan Ryan (high jump) added third-place finishes.

Schuylkill Haven took third in the boys’ team standings, with Ethan Kline winning the shot put and Niko Carestia capturing the javelin. The Tamaqua boys won 3200 relay.

Spartans, Wave, Panthers compete at Breslin Invitational

 

MOUNT CARMEL — North Schuylkill’s Luke Miller won the 200 meters, was second in the 100 and ran a leg on the bronze-medal-winning 400 relay at Thursday’s 17-team Breslin Invitational at the Silver Bowl.

Miller won the 200 in 22.17 seconds, then took second in the 100 in 10.98. He teamed with Cameron Kacilowicz, Brady Welker and Caden Mengel to take third in the 400 relay in 43.78.

On the girls’ side, Nativity’s Sara Spolski was fourth in the 400 (1:00.51), fifth in the long jump (15-3.75) and nine in the 100 meters (13.46). North Schuylkill’s Olivia Greblick was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 51.36 seconds, while Panther Valley’s Morgan Orsulak was seventh in the high jump (4-6).
