HS Baseball Roundup: Blue Devils, Hurricanes collect Schuylkill League victories

SHENANDOAH — Brayden Maksimik dazzled on both sides of the diamond, delivering a strong performance on the mound and making a big impact at the plate as Shenandoah Valley blanked Minersville 6-0 in a Schuylkill League Division II baseball game Monday at Babe Conroy Field.

Maksimik, a senior, pitched a complete game, allowed three hits and struck out three. At the plate, he collected four RBIs, a pair of doubles and a run scored.

Jostin Lajara added a double and pushed across an RBI for the Blue Devils, while Brayden Lutz collected an RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Chase McCole, Ethan Bench and Tristian Karosas each had a hit for Shenandoah Valley.

For the Battlin’ Miners, Logan Hutsko pitched six innings and struck out four batters. Easton Schultz, Garrett Sukeena and Hutsko each tallied a hit for Minersville.

HOMETOWN — Alan Evans went 4-for-4, scored three runs and drove in three runs as Schuylkill Haven rolled past Marian in a Division II game.

Hunter Correll totaled four RBIs and Talan Spittler chipped in three RBIs for the Hurricanes, who scored eight runs total across the first two innings. Spittler pitched all five innings and held the Colts to four hits.

Chase Yoder added a pair of RBIs and three runs scored for Schuylkill Haven, while Chase Maley scored three runs and collected a pair of hits.

For Marian, Rocco Griguoli had a pair of doubles and Cole Defrancisco knocked in a run.

TAMAQUA — Mason Ligenza and Jake Yenser combined for seven RBIs as Tamaqua cruised by Pleasant Valley in a non-league game.

Ligenza blasted his sixth home run of the season in bottom of the third inning on a two-run shot to right field. Gavan Hess and Noah Mateyak combined to strike out seven batters across six innings for the Blue Raiders (9-1).

Panther Valley 7
Executive Education 5

ALLENTOWN — Gavin Yuricheck had two hits and tallied four RBIs as Panther Valley edged Executive Education in a non-league game.

Yuricheck doubled down the left-field line and helped the Panthers tie the game 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning. Brady Jones earned the win for Panther Valley (3-4) on the mound.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Chase Slotcavage, Hunter Rogers and Kevin Jones each had an RBI as North Schuylkill defeated South Williamsport in a non-league game.

Stephen Minahan pitched six innings and allowed two runs, neither earned, and struck out six the Spartans (3-5). Kolton Joyce received Minahan in the top of the seventh inning and earned the save.

Upper Dauphin 6

ELIZABETHVILLE — Gavin Trawitz doubled and knocked in two runs as Williams Valley defeated Upper Dauphin in a non-league game.

John Rautzahn pitched a complete game and allowed three hits for the Vikings, who rallied for six runs in the top of the third. Fletcher Thompson chipped in a triple and a pair of runs scored for Williams Valley (4-5).

HAMBURG — Nick Wagner and Ryan Examitis each had an RBI as Nativity fell to Hamburg in a non-league game.

Wagner doubled in the top of the fourth inning and scored Stephen Karinch to push across a run for the Hilltoppers. A batter later, Examitis added a singled and plated Wagner. Examitas pitched six innings and struck out six batters.
