HS Track: Blue Mountain, Haven boys, girls cruise to victory

ORWIGSBURG — Chase Guers and Rafael Liranzo each captured three wins to lead Blue Mountain to an 85-65 victory over Pottsville in a Schuylkill League Division I boys’ track and field meet Wednesday at the Eagles’ Nest.
Guers won the 100, 400 and triple jump, while Liranzo swept the hurdles and took first in the high jump as Blue Mountain (3-0, 2-0 D-I) stayed unbeaten.
Gaige Guers (200), Francesco Carr (1,600), Ethan Derfler (long jump), William Shaner (javelin) and Nick Beckfield (shot put) added individual victories for Blue Mountain, while the Eagles’ 1,600 and 3,200 relays captured first place as well.
Cullen Clarke won the 800 and 3,200 for Pottsville (1-2, 1-1), while Ryan Galen won the discus and Killian Bressler took first in the pole vault.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Luke Smith took charge for the Hurricane boys, winning four events in a Division II victory against Shenandoah Valley at Rotary Field.
Smith captured first place in the long jump, high jump, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.
Niko Carestia followed up with three victories, taking first in 100, 200 and javelin. Ethan Kline brought home first place in the discus and shot put as the Hurricanes won 14 of the 17 events.
For Shenandoah Valley, Robert Guzman won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs, while Michael Elchisak captured the triple jump.

ORWIGSBURG — Vanessa Frasnelli won two events and ran on a winning relay as the Eagles captured a Schuylkill League Division I win against the Crimson Tide at the Eagles’ Nest.
Frasnelli won both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters for Blue Mountain (3-0, 2-0 D-I).
Jaclyn Easparro and Cierra Reppert exchanged first and second places in the 100 and 200, while Madeline Dalkner (400) and Gianna Chipriano (800) earned track victories and Izabel Zajac (triple jump), Makayla Keck (javelin), Hannah Miller (discus) and Kamryn Moran (pole vault) secured field victories.
Blue Mountain also won the 400 and 3,200 relays.
Alexa Guiffre won three events for Pottsville (0-3, 0-2), taking the 100 and 300 hurdles as well as the long jump. Myla Fegley (high jump) and Ashley Gould (shot put) each had a field event win as well.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Karlee Feger won three events and Bella Murphy, Anna Schaeffer and Isabella Hughes captured top spots in two events as the Hurricanes won every event in a Division II win over the Blue Devils at Rotary Field.
Feger took the victories in the shot put, discus and javelin. Murphy claimed the top spot in the triple jump and the high jump. Schaeffer was crowned in the 400 and 3,200, while Hughes swept the hurdles.
The victory kept the Hurricanes (3-0, 3-0) unbeaten in Division II play. Shenandoah Valley drops to 0-4 overall, 0-4 in league play.
