HS Softball: North Schuylkill’s bats too much for Pottsville

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Brigid Flynn went 3-for-3 with two triples, two RBIs and a run scored as North Schuylkill defeated Pottsville 12-1 in five innings Wednesday in a Schuylkill League Division I softball game.
Monica Selgrade slugged a three-run double in the third inning for the Spartans, who led from start to finish.
Other top hitters for North Schuylkill included Gianna Capone, 2-for-2 with two runs; and Kylie Meskunas, 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Flynn pitched the first three innings to get the win; Olivia Jones tossed two scoreless frames with four strikeouts.
For Pottsville, Jes Siminitus went 2-for-3, and Lana Cromyak doubled and drove in a run.

MINERSVILLE — Ella Kobularik went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and one RBI as Williams Valley topped Minersville in a Division II game at Ken Schneck Field.
Quin Smeltz went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Vikings. Sage Smeltz singled, doubled and drove in a run, while Ally Underkoffler went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
For Minersville, Isabella Cruz went 3-for-3 with an RBI; Payton Frantz went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored; and Eila O’Brien went 2-for-3.
Sage Smeltz tossed a complete game in the circle, striking out 10 and working around Minersville’s 10 hits.

Jamie Dinger and Chelcy Clark combined on a one-hit shutout. Dinger pitched three innings and struck out eight; Clark tossed two innings and whiffed three.
