FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Wyatt Snyder’s two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning made the difference for Pine Grove.

Snyder had only one hit for the Cardinals, but he made it count as Pine Grove held off North Schuylkill 4-3 in a Schuylkill League Division I game Thursday.

Snyder’s homer gave the Cardinals (4-3, 2-1 D-I) some breathing room and timely insurance runs. After pushing one run across in the bottom of the third inning, the Spartans stormed back and nearly shocked Pine Grove with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Cardinals were able escape with the win after Brayden Lyons relieved Quinn Brommer on the hill and got the final two outs.

Brommer pitched 6.1 innings for Pine Grove, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six.

For North Schuylkill (2-4, 1-3), Hunter Rogers went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Chase Slotcavage pitched all seven innings for the Spartans, striking out six.

Minersville 11, Weatherly 1, 5 inn.

MINERSVILLE — Owen Fortna and A.J. Halford each had two hits and a pair of RBIs as Minersville rolled past Weatherly in a Division II game at Del Hauck Field.

Easton Schultz and Nolan Plesnarski each added two hits for the Battlin’ Miners, while Halford threw all five innings and struck out seven batters.

For the Wreckers, Bradlee Connors and Trent Higgins each had a hit.
