HS Baseball Roundup: Minersville, Schuylkill Haven, Tamaqua earn first wins of the season

MINERSVILLE — Logan Hutsko threw a complete game no-hitter as Minersville shut out Shamokin 6-0 in a non-league baseball game Wednesday at Del Hauck Field.
A senior southpaw, Hutsko needed only 71 pitches to collect five strikeouts and earn the complete-game victory.
Offensively, Hutsko added a hit, run scored and RBI for the Battlin’ Miners, while sophomore Garrett Sukeena tallied two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Dante Carr doubled and knocked in a run, while Cam Rogers and Nolan Plesnarski each had an RBI for Minersville.

Schuylkill Haven 10, Mount Carmel 4
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Talan Spittler and Gavin Wade each doubled and racked up three RBIs as Schuylkill Haven used a late offensive flurry to down Mount Carmel in a non-league game at Scott Buffington Field.
The Hurricanes scored all 10 of their runs after the third inning. Johnny Fessler’s two-run single sparked a five-run fourth inning before Spittler and Wade both doubled in a four-run fifth inning.
Alan Evans added two hits for Haven.

HOMETOWN — Mason Ligenza tossed four no-hit innings and fanned eight as Tamaqua rolled past Marian in five innings in a non-league matchup.
Ligenza homered and doubled twice in four plate appearances. He scored four runs and added an RBI. Luke Kane collected four RBIs on a double and two singles, Noah Mateyak tripled and had two RBIs and Logan Morgans added two hits and a pair of RBIs as part of the Blue Raiders’ 11-hit offensive onslaught.
Cole DeFrancisco and Rocco Griguoli combined to strike out eight batters for the Colts.

MIDDLEPORT — Braeden Doyle pitched four innings, allowed no hits and struck out six as Tri-Valley rolled past Nativity in a non-league game at Schuylkill Valley Stadium.
Doyle added two hits, one being a double, offensively, while Bailey Clark knocked in two runs for the Dawgs. Jack Wehry chipped in two hits for Tri-Valley.
For the Hilltoppers, Nick Wagner hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning.

SHENANDOAH — Johnny Burke went 3-for-4, doubled twice and collected four RBIs as Shenandoah Valley defeated Executive Education in a non-league contest.
Chase McCole also acquired a pair of doubles at the plate and added two RBIs for the Blue Devils. He also pitched three innings of shutout relief, not allowing a single hit.
Brayden Maksimik had three hits at the plate and started on the hill for Shenandoah Valley. He struck out six across four innings and took home the win.

WYOMISSING — Wyomissing rallied to edge North Schuylkill in a non-league game after trailing 5-0 early.
North Schuylkill got on the board in the top of the first inning after Stephen Minahan singled, Kevin Jones doubled and Mark Monahan singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. North Schuylkill tacked on two more runs in the top of the third inning before Wyomissing tied things 5-5 in the bottom of the third.
Teddy White singled to knock in the walk-off run for Wyomissing in the bottom of the seventh inning.
