HS Baseball Weekend Roundup: Pottsville, Shenandoah Valley open season in the win column

SHENANDOAH — Brayden Lutz collected three RBIs as Shenandoah Valley edged MMI Prep 6-5 in a non-league baseball game Friday at Babe Conroy Field.

Brayden Maksimik and Chase McCole each pitched three innings and combined to tally 11 strikeouts for the Blue Devils, who scored two runs in the bottom of seventh to grab the win.

Jeremy Thomas scored three runs and Johnny Burke added two for Shenandoah Valley, who rallied to earn first-year skipper Frank McCole’s first career win.

Tri-Valley 2, Southern Columbia 2 (continuation)

HEGINS — Tri-Valley and Southern Columbia were tied 2-2 after 11 innings of play to open the season Friday. The game had to be stopped due to darkness.

The game is set to continue at a time and date to be announced.

POTTSVILLE — Dominic Rynard collected two RBIs and picked up the win on the hill as Pottsville walked it off against Daniel Boone in a non-league game.

The Crimson Tide sprayed six hits and totaled nine stolen bags as a team to pick up the opening day victory.

EMMAUS — Aidan Grace, Dean Faust and Riley Sebastian each tallied an RBI as Blue Mountain fell to Emmaus in a non-league game.

The Eagles collected 11 hits as a unit but stranded 12 men on base throughout the contest.
