HS Basketball: Lourdes girls, boys win District 4 openers

SHAMOKIN — Hannah Lokitis recorded a double-double and paced a trio of double-digit scorers as Lourdes opened District 4 Class A play with a 48-17 victory over Northumberland Christian on Wednesday night.
Lokitis collected 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Red Raiders (18-6), who are the No. 1 seed in the eight-team Class A field. Kylla Sandri and Onaleigh Barnes each added 10 points for Lourdes, which used a 19-2, second-quarter run to break the game open.
Lourdes’ defense forced 23 turnovers and compiled 15 steals.
The Red Raiders advance to the District 4 semifinals to face No. 4 Meadowbrook Christian, a 44-41 winner over St. John Neumann, at 6 p.m. Saturday at Danville High School. No. 2 Millville faces No. 3 Benton in the other semifinal at 3 p.m. Saturday at Danville.

Lourdes boys win opener
The Lourdes’ boys’ basketball opened District 4 Class A playoff action Tuesday with a 58-46 victory at Meadowbrook Christian. The Red Raiders (7-16) entered the tournament seeded sixth, while Meadowbrook Christian (9-8) was No. 3.

The victory advances Lourdes to Saturday’s semifinals, where the Red Raiders will face No. 2 Sullivan County (13-10), a 57-47 winner over Galeton, at 4:30 p.m. at Danville High School.
No. 1 North-Penn Liberty (16-7) takes on No. 4 Bucktail (11-11) in the other semifinal, slated for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Loyalsock High School.
