HS Wrestling: Vikes’ Monger, Tide’s McFarland capture William Tennent gold

WARMINSTER — Williams Valley’s Magnus Monger (107) and Pottsville’s Terrell McFarland (189) blitzed their way to individual championships Saturday at the 16-team William Tennent Wrestling Tournament.

Monger went 3-0 with three first-period pins to earn his gold medal. In the finals, Monger pinned Pottsville’s Cole Cook in 1:14.
Similarly, McFarland dominated his weight class with two pins and a technical fall. McFarland clinched his gold medal by decking Harry S. Truman’s Mohamet Touray in 2:50.
Plymouth-Whitemarsh won the team title with 217 points. Harry S. Truman finished second with 177.5. Upper Moreland (172), Cheltenham (149) and Great Valley (147) rounded out the top five. Pottsville (121.5) placed seventh, and Williams Valley (118.5) took eighth.
In addition to McFarland’s gold and Cook’s silver, Pottsville had five other placewinners. Stephen Karinch (114) finished second for the Crimson Tide, falling 11-1 to Plymouth-Whitemarsh’s Kahleef Leonard in the finals.
Brayden Evans (172) had a 4-1 day to place third. Lukas McNamara (285) took a fifth; Chris Dembinsky (121) placed sixth; and Eli Accardi (215) finished eighth.
The Vikings entered just six wrestlers, but all six of them captured a medal.
In addition to Monger’s gold, Colin Crisswell (160) and Camron Green (285) earned second-place finishes. In the finals, Crisswell dropped a 13-2 major decision to Great Valley’s Gabe Ertle and Green got pinned in 1:48 by AIM’s Isaiah Taylor.
Xzavion Tennis (133) went 3-1 to place third for Williams Valley. He pinned Norristown’s Nicholas Antonio in 3:47 in the bronze-medal bout.
Skylor Green (189) finished fourth, and Elisha Weiss (215) placed seventh for the Vikes.
Bears go 4-2 at Salisbury Duals
ALLENTOWN — Rory Dixon (160), William Stoyer (172) and Kyler Quick (189) posted 6-0 records on the day to lead Mahanoy Area to four victories at the Salisbury Duals.
The Golden Bears (13-6) defeated Allentown Dieruff (51-20), Northern Lehigh (43-30), Twin Valley (42-34) and Panther Valley (60-18). Mahanoy Area fell to Pocono Mountain West (35-31) and Selinsgrove (50-23).


Dixon had four pins and a technical fall among his six wins. Stoyer notched four pins and two technical falls, and Quick tallied four falls and two wins by forfeit.
Kyle Pollack (215) added a 5-1 day with three pins for the Bears.
Jah Bushati (152) went 4-1 with four pins, while Sonny Seritti (133) and Gordon Slater (139) had 4-2 records on the day. Seritti contributed three falls, and Slater had one pin and one technical fall.
