HS Girls’ Basketball Roundup: Fillies, Vikings finish as Division II co-champions

SHENANDOAH — There was no drama when it came to the final round of Schuylkill League Division II girls’ basketball action Monday night.
Marian and Williams Valley finished as Division II co-champions with easy victories, as the Fillies routed Shenandoah Valley 49-11 and Williams Valley dusted Weatherly 63-11.
Since the teams split their regular-season games, Marian (20-2, 13-1) will earn the No. 1 seed from Division II for the league playoffs based on District 11 power rating, with the Fillies at .696337 and Williams Valley at .689695. The Vikings (20-2, 13-1) will be the No. 2 seed.

Those wins, coupled with victories Monday by North Schuylkill and Schuylkill Haven (see related stories), sets the Schuylkill League girls’ playoffs as follows:
Saturday’s quarterfinals at Martz Hall (times to be determined): Schuylkill Haven vs. Lourdes, Tamaqua vs. Williams Valley
Tuesday’s semifinals at Martz Hall: Haven-Lourdes winner vs. Marian, 6 p.m.; Tamaqua-WV winner vs. North Schuylkill, 7:30 p.m.
Friday’s championship at Martz Hall: Semifinal winners, 6 p.m.
Addy Marek scored 13 points and Addy Fritz had 12 for Marian in its win over the Blue Devils. The Fillies led 12-2 after one quarter and 29-3 at the half.
