MAHANOY CITY — Lourdes is in.

The Red Raiders qualified for the Schuylkill League girls’ basketball playoffs for the first time since 2019 on Thursday night with a 36-24 victory over Mahanoy Area.

The win gives Lourdes (14-4, 9-3 D-II) the third seed from Division II and sets up a quarterfinal matchup with Division I runner-up Schuylkill Haven on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Martz Hall.

Sophia Karlovich was the hero Thursday, as the 5-foot-11 freshman center scored 12 points and had six rebounds. She netted six of those points in the fourth quarter, when Lourdes outscored Mahanoy Area 20-5 to take control of the game.

Vivian Reiprish added eight points and Hannah Lokitis collected eight points, 17 rebounds and eight blocks for the Red Raiders, who have won nine of their last 10.

Felicia Bro had seven for Mahanoy Area, which held Lourdes scoreless in the second quarter and led 12-6 at halftime.
