BARNESVILLE — The weather outside might be a little cold and snowy to play golf.

That hasn’t stopped Schuylkill County’s golf enthusiasts from making plans for when the weather turns warmer and it’s time get out the sticks and hit the links.

The Schuylkill County Amateur Golf Committee recently announced the dates and locations for its major tournaments for 2025. The committee promotes seven tournaments throughout the spring, summer and fall, ranging in age from youth to senior citizen.

The biggest change for 2025 is the adjustment of dates for the county’s three major tournaments — medal play, match play and senior championships.

The medal-play tournament has been moved up to first in the rotation and will be held Saturday-Sunday, June 7-8, at White Birch Golf Course. In the past, the medal-play (or stroke-play) tournament has been held in August or on Labor Day weekend.

The Schuylkill County Amateur Match-Play Tournament will be held Saturday-Sunday, July 19-20, at Hidden Valley Golf Course, Friedensburg. The Senior Championships will also be at Hidden Valley, on Friday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 17.

All three major tournaments are open to any current or past Schuylkill County resident or any paid member of a county course.

SCC Invitational

When: Saturday-Sunday, May 31-June 1

Where: Schuylkill Country Club, Orwigsburg

Entry Fee: $320 per team

Details: Open to any amateur golfer. … Two-man tournament, capped at 60 teams. Teams will be broken into five flights of 12. Skins game of $40 per team per day.

Schuylkill County Amateur Medal-Play Championships

When: Saturday-Sunday, June 7-8

Where: White Birch Golf Course, Barnesville

Entry Fee: $130 per golfer

Details: Open to any current or past Schuylkill County resident or paid member at any county course … Optional skins game for the weekend of $40, paid on Saturday …. Tournament tees and pins set up by committee. …. Flight structure and purse will be announced when sending out tee times.

SCC Senior Invitational

When: Monday-Tuesday, July 7-8

Where: Schuylkill Country Club, Orwigsburg

Entry Fee: $280 per team

Details: Two-man, two-day tournament from tournament tees. … Field capped at 30 teams. … Open to any amateur golfer. … Skins game of $20 per team per day.

Schuylkill County Amateur Match-Play Championships

When: Saturday-Sunday, July 19-20

Where: Hidden Valley Golf Course, Friedensburg

Entry Fee: $50 per golfer, plus cart fee for each day.

Tee times: Saturday — First round, 9-10 a.m.; Second round, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday — Semifinals, 10-10:30 a.m.; Championships, 3 p.m.

Qualifying Dates: Tuesday, July 8, 3 p.m.; Friday, July 11, 1:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 13, 1:30 p.m.

Start time: Shotgun start at 10 a.m.

Entry Fee: $20 per golfer, includes hot dog and soda

Divisions: High School Division, Junior High Division

Details: Open to any current Schuylkill County resident age 18 or under or a member of any high school golf team that competes in the Schuylkill League. …. Will be held in conjunction with Schuylkill League Golf Media Day.

Schuylkill County Amateur Senior Championships

When: Friday, Aug. 15, and Sunday, Aug. 17

Divisions: Senior Division (ages 55-64), Super Senior Division (ages 65-74) and Legend Division (ages 75 and over)
