ORWIGSBURG — Hollywood scriptwriters couldn’t do better.

Blue Mountain junior Owen Woll lived out a dream Saturday at the Schuylkill League Wrestling Championships at Blue Mountain High School.

Woll pinned all three of his opponents in the first period to capture the 152-pound title, his second straight at the annual league gathering. He opened the day with a 19-second fall over Panther Valley’s Robert Campomizzi and followed with a pin in 1:21 over Tri-Valley’s Parker Hatter. In the finals, Woll got a quick takedown and stacked up Mahanoy Area’s Jah Bushati for the fall in 47 seconds.

Woll rose to his feet and pointed to his friends and family watching from the bleachers of his home gym.

Wait, there’s more.

With the three victories, Woll (29-3) notched the 100th victory of his career, raising his career mark to 100-25 with a season-plus still to go in his high school career.

For his efforts, the league’s coaches voted Woll as the Outstanding Wrestler of the meet.

“What more can you ask for, honestly?” Woll said after his bout. “I’m at home, my whole family, all of my friends are here. I’m truly blessed to be in the situation I’m in.

“It’s just awesome that all of my friends and family came here to support me today,” he added. “It’s really cool.”

Woll wasn’t the only wrestler to make a march toward history.

Pottsville junior Terrell McFarland stormed to the 172-pound crown to capture his third title and remain on pace to become a member of the exclusive four-timers club next season. After pins in 21 and 50 seconds, McFarland used a takedown and two sets of four-point near falls en route to a 15-0 technical fall in 4:09 over Blue Mountain’s Hunter Blankenhorn in the finals.

In control throughout, McFarland added two reversals to set the final. He improved his season record to 27-2 and his career mark to 88-10.

“I think it’s really good for me and it’s good for the school,” McFarland said. “It shows how much dedication some people have, how much work ethic we’ve got. … My brother couldn’t do it because of the COVID year, and I could do something he couldn’t.

“It would be amazing. It would be like the hall of fame a little bit,” McFarland added with a laugh.

Pottsville’s Parrish McFarland capped his career last season by becoming a three-time Schuylkill League champion and the Crimson Tide’s all-time winningest wrestler.

Three other wrestlers became two-time league champions.

Tamaqua senior Aiden Schlier had three first-period pins to take the 127-pound crown. In the finals, Schlier used legs and a body press to pin North Schuylkill’s Stanley Padakowski in 43 seconds. Schlier (24-4) won gold in 2023, finished third last season and returned to the top of the podium Saturday. The three wins also made him 99-37 for his career.

Senior Nate Sterner helped North Schuylkill capture the team title with a 1-0 decision over Tri-Valley’s Noah Hanlon in the 145-pound final. A third-period escape and a wild scramble at the end to avoid a takedown gave Sterner his second straight gold.

“It was a close one,” Sterner said. “I knew it was going to be a good match. I just had to go out there with confidence and get it done.”

Tri-Valley junior Owen Wolfgang joined the two-time champions club by pinning Williams Valley’s Magnus Monger in 2:38 in the 107-pound final. Wolfgang (20-6) notched three takedowns before stacking Monger for the fall.

“It feels amazing,” Wolfgang said. “I just had to keep pushing the pace. I thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me. It’s just amazing.”
