Basketball Roundup: Tide, Lourdes, Marian earn boys’ wins

POTTSVILLE — The trio of Christian Alvarez, Ryder Bowers and Letrel Montone combined for 49 points as Pottsville outlasted Panther Valley 63-51 in a Schuylkill League Division I boys’ basketball game Wednesday night.
Montone had nine of his 15 points in the first half as the Tide seized a 30-25 lead at intermission. Alvarez took over in the second half, scoring 13 of his game-high 19 points to keep Pottsville ahead. Bowers finished with 15 points, hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Logan Fisher scored 16 points and Connor Penberth added 14 for Panther Valley.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Brighton Scicchitano scored a team-high 16 points as the Red Raiders earned their first Division II victory of the season with a win over the Hurricanes.
Gaven Renn added 11 points for Lourdes, which outscored Haven 21-13 through the middle quarters to take control.
Max Heim scored a game-high 18 points and Alan Evans added 12 for Schuylkill Haven, which lost its fifth straight.

SHENANDOAH — Jacob De La Cruz scored nine of his game-high 15 points in the first half as the Colts downed the Blue Devils in a Division II contest.
De La Cruz paced a balanced attack that saw Dominic Catrone, Rocco Griguoli and Gregory Tirpak each add nine points. The Colts built a 28-20 halftime lead, then pulled away in the second half.
Joel Nunez led the Blue Devils with 11 points.

MINERSVILLE — Lauren Ligenza tallied a game-high 14 points and Millie Black pulled down 10 rebounds as the Blue Raiders won their 10th straight game with a Schuylkill League Division I victory over the Miners.
Ligenza had 12 points in the first half as Tamaqua raced out to a 24-9 lead. The Blue Raiders then held Minersville scoreless in the third period.
Kloee Horoschak paced the Miners with seven points.
