HS Wrestling: Spartans strong at Lehighton Takedown Duals

LEHIGHTON — Easton Edwards (121) had a 5-0 day to lead North Schuylkill to four victories Saturday at the Lehighton Takedown Duals.
The Spartans defeated East Stroudsburg North (56-17), Jim Thorpe (48-19), Governor Mifflin (33-29) and Manheim Central (42-32). Lehighton downed North Schuylkill 41-29.
Gaige Mentusky (107), Alex Deritis (114), Bryce Kile (139), Nate Sterner (145) and Sander Stokes (285) had 4-1 records on the day for the Spartans (8-2).
Panther Valley (0-8) also competed at the event and lost to East Stroudsburg North (42-30), East Stroudsburg South (64-6), Lehighton (78-0), Manheim Central (72-6) and Jim Thorpe (65-6). Josue Morciglio (133) went 3-2 for the Panthers.
Cards go 2-4 at Raider Duals
ELVERSON — Isaiah Miller and Austin Martin posted perfect records as Pine Grove defeated Twin Valley (49-22) and Brandywine Heights (48-22) at the Raider Duals at Twin Valley High School.
The Cardinals (6-4) lost to Souderton (49-15), Northern Lebanon (48-23), West Chester East (36-34) and Big Spring (38-28).
Miller compiled four falls, a decision and a forfeit in his 6-0 day.
Martin had two pins, a technical fall, a major decision, a forfeit and a decision to go 6-0. Along the way, Martin avenged a loss to Souderton’s Johnny Beckett in the Governor Mifflin Holiday Tournament semifinals. Beckett won that one 14-6; Martin took the rematch by decision.
Robbie Schaeffer went 5-1 for the Cardinals, notching four falls and a forfeit. Aaron Osatchuck had a 4-2 record.
Tide host Mats on the Mecca
POTTSVILLE — Terrell McFarland (189) went 6-0 with four pins and a technical fall as Pottsville won a pair of duals at the Mats on the Mecca duals at Martz Hall.
The Crimson Tide topped Ephrata (36-34) and Williams Valley (42-14). Colin Kline (133) won by fall down the stretch to clinch the victory over Ephrata.
The Tide fell to Cedar Cliff (42-25), Gettysburg (45-18), Northern Lehigh (48-30) and Germantown Academy (56-17).
Cole Cook (107) and Stephen Karinch (114) had 4-2 records for Pottsville (5-9).
Williams Valley (0-16) dropped duals to Cedar Cliff (65-12), Ephrata (60-18), Gettysburg (66-12), Northern Lehigh (42-29), Germantown Academy (59-12) and Pottsville.
Camron Green (285) had a 6-0 record, notching five pins and picking up a forfeit for the Vikings. Magnus Monger (107) went 5-1 with four falls and a major decision.
Tamaqua 3-2 at Hawk Mtn. Duals
HAMBURG — Jacob Hehn (189) had a 5-0 day with four pins to help Tamaqua post a 3-2 record at the Hawk Mountain Duals at Hamburg Area High School.
The Blue Raiders (5-9) defeated Overbrook (63-0), Hamburg (45-27) and Trinity of Camp Hill (37-30). Tamaqua fell to Southern Columbia (50-21) and Carlisle (50-18).
Levi Kunkel (121) and Aiden Schlier (127) had 4-1 records for the Blue Raiders.
Dawgs go 4-2 at LM Duals
MANDATA — Garrett Leitzel (107-114) and Hunter Updegrave (172) went 5-1 as Tri-Valley had a winning day at the Line Mountain Duals.
The Bulldogs defeated Camp Hill (39-34), Oley Valley (52-23), Union City (37-24) and Annville-Cleona (55-17). Tri-Valley (9-4) fell to Boiling Springs (46-27) and Line Mountain (52-21).
Noah Hanlon (152) went 3-0, while Owen Wolfgang (107), Jaxson Bruso (133), Parker Hatter (152-160), Max Masser (189) and Donovan Keeth (215) posted 4-2 records.
Blue Mountain also competed at the event. The Eagles (11-5) defeated Union City (47-17) and Jersey Shore (44-21) but fell to Boiling Springs (48-30), Camp Hill (35-29), Line Mountain (40-30) and Shikellamy (44-26).
Bradley Renninger (189) went 6-0 with four falls and earned his 100th career victory during the course of the day.
Owen Woll (152) posted a 6-0 record with five pins and a technical fall. Bryce Bodenberg (139) went 6-0 with three falls.
Keenan Hall (114) and Hunter Blankenhorn (172) added 4-2 days for the Eagles.
