Bradley Renninger was a physical presence for Blue Mountain on both sides of the football this season.

His strong play at tight end was reward by the state’s coaches Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior was named to the PA Football News Coaches Select Class 4A All-State as the second-team tight end.

The PFN Coaches Select All-State teams feature a first team and a second team. The 66-player Class 4A squad was chosen through nominations and voting done by more than 250 coaches from across the state. Ties were not broken. The PA Football News did not have any influence on nominating or voting.

The PA Football News released its All-State teams in Class A, 3A and 5A on Thursday, with Nativity’s Noah Dolbin and Mark Kimmel, Marian’s Aidan Milkovits and the North Schuylkill trio of Gavin Mentzer, Luke Miller and Sander Stokes selected.

Coaches Select All-State teams in Class 2A, 4A and 6A were unveiled Friday. Nine local players — Williams Valley’s Kian Krzyzanowski, Brady Shomper, Camron Green, Brayden Crisswell and Evan Achenbach; and Schuylkill Haven’s Niko Carestia, Wyatt Keefer, Chase Williams and Leyden Hertz — were named to the Class AA team earlier Friday. “That’s great,” Blue Mountain coach Tom Gallagher said of Renninger being honored. “He worked very hard for his senior season, so our coaches are happy to see him receive this honor.”

Renninger emerged as the No. 2 option in Blue Mountain’s passing attack, hauling in 27 passes for 518 yards and five touchdowns. He also did an excellent job run-blocking, often closing off the edge so the Eagles’ running backs can get around the corner.

Defensively, Renninger exceled at defensive end, compiling 44 tackles and four sacks.

“Brad had a terrific senior season for us at the tight end position,” Gallagher said. “He was a physical blocker in the run game and his athleticism and speed made him a big threat for our passing game.”

Renninger was the only Schuylkill County player selected to the PFN Coaches Select Class 4A All-State Team.

Lehighton, which eliminated Blue Mountain from the District 11 playoffs, had a pair of players chosen — outside linebacker Blake Roberts was picked on the first team and safety Lucas Croizier was a second-team selection.

District 4 Class 4A champion Shamokin had five players honored, with offensive guard Blake Hockenbroch and nose guard Izak Glover on the first team and wide receiver Chase Pensyl, offensive athlete Logan Steele and outside linebacker Zakem Clinton on the second team.
