HS Basketball Roundup: Balanced offense helps Blue Mountain boys’ earn key win

ORWIGSBURG — A balanced offensive performance helped Blue Mountain climb back above even.

Tyeirre Meade paced Blue Mountain with a team-high 19 points as the Eagles defeated Exeter 63-54 Thursday in a non-league boys’ basketball game at Blue Mountain High School.

The Eagles (5-4) had four total scorers hit double digits in points in the contest. Sean Gaddy netted 13 points, while Merik Brayford and Aidan Grace both chipped in 12. Meade shot 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

The win brings Blue Mountain above .500 as we near the midway point of the regular season. The Eagles host Class 6A Northampton (7-2) Saturday at 1 p.m.

North Schuylkill 59, Hanover 51, OT

HANOVER — Zack Marcinowski collected a team-high 16 points as North Schuylkill downed Hanover in overtime in a non-league contest.

Tied at 46 at the end of regulation, Marcinowski netted five of the Spartans 13 points in the overtime period and shot 4-of-5 from the free throw line.

Jude Maziekas added 10 points for North Schuylkill, who host District 11 Class 4A counterpart Palmerton (2-9) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

YATESVILLE — Trey Keating scored a team-high 27 points as Nativity fell to Pittston in a non-league matchup.

The Patriots offensive firepower was too much for the Hilltoppers as Pittston led 27-20 after the first quarter and never relinquished the lead.

Keating knocked down three 3-poiners and shot 8-for-8 from the free throw line on his way to his team-high 27 points. Noah Dolbin added 14 points for Nativity.

North Schuylkill 55, Shamokin 44

SHAMOKIN — Hannah Kane scored tied a game-high 15 points as North Schuylkill rolled past Shamokin in a non-league girls’ basketball game.

Jadelin Stitzer poured on 11 points for the Spartans, while Mya Conti added eight of her nine points during a third quarter. North Schuylkill outscored the Indians 18-12 in the frame.
