Weekend Roundup: Haven soccer teams sweep Jim Thorpe
Girls’ Soccer
Schuylkill Haven 9, Jim Thorpe 0 — Kylie Siket scored three times and Taylor Haag had two goals and four assists as the Hurricanes routed the Olympians at Rotary Field.
Audrey Hutchinson tallied two goals and two assists and Cadence Artz also scored for Schuylkill Haven, which led 6-0 at halftime and outshot Jim Thorpe 18-1.
Nikki Domermuth pitched the shutout in net for Haven.
Minersville 8, Marian 0 — At Minersville, Kloee Horoschak and Grace Sterner each scored three times as the Miners blanked the Fillies.
Payton Frantz scored the other two goals for Minersville, which outshot Marian 31-1. Madison Kattner made 23 saves in the cage for Marian.
North Schuylkill 14, Lourdes 0 — Freshman Lilah Helwig continued her big week with three more goals as the Spartans blitzed the Red Raiders at Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.
Addie Balicki added two goals for North Schuylkill, which led 8-0 at halftime and outshot Lourdes 36-2. Marlie White, Jillian Murray, Taylor Shadle, Mia McDonald, Addie Urban, Julisa Rivera, Samantha Staconis, Mylee Bindie and Kyla Yesalusky also scored for the Spartans.
Sierra Balonis made 22 saves for Lourdes.
Boys’ Soccer
Schuylkill Haven 1, Jim Thorpe 0 — Carter Daniel’s first-half goal off an assist from L.J. Ulsh was the game’s only tally as the Hurricanes blanked the Olympians at Rotary Field.
Haven keeper Gavin Wade stopped all 13 Jim Thorpe shots to record the shutout.
The victory was the first career win for new Schuylkill Haven coach Gary Hess.
Conrad Weiser 5, Blue Mountain 1 — Dylan Knittle tallied the Eagles’ only goal in a non-league loss to the Scouts at the Eagles’ Nest. Gavin Rapp scored three times for Conrad Weiser. Caden Wargo made five saves for Blue Mountain.
